The Rattle River Lodge and Hostel sits on the Appalachian Trail, against the backdrop of the Carter-Moriah Mountain Range, and is gateway to the Presidential Range of the White Mountains. Built in 1877, this New England colonial home does not lack for services, amenities, or modernity, while still keeping its original charm.
Our hostel features the amenities and services for a restful stay.
The kitchen has always been the hottest spot at the lodge!
We provide shuttle services! All shuttle requests must be requested by phone or submitted through our website. Click on the "Shuttles" tab at the top of the page for additional information or click on the link below to book a shuttle.
Try one of the Appalachian Trail's most challenging slack packs! This famous 21 mile slack pack runs between Pinkham Notch and Rattle River Trailhead. For safety, if you think this slack pack presents too much of a challenge, then we suggest you attempt it over a period of 2 or 3 days. (We will hold any gear you don't want to carry on the slack pack.) For this, we suggest:
*We can store at our Hostel any gear you might not need for the slack pack; we also have loaner day packs. Remember, you are responsible for monitoring the weather and carrying the necessary items required for emergency overnight camping in case you are unable to complete the entire slack pack. This is a very difficult slack pack and is suggested only to thru hikers or those familiar with trail running in the White Mountains. The Rattle River Hostel is not responsible for rescue and is not liable for any injuries. Be prepared!
We love our customers! Feel free to visit us during business hours or look us up on social media! A phone call is the best way to get in touch. If we don't answer, don't worry, just leave a message!
